Facial Rejuvenation

Overview

Facial rejuvenation encompasses a range of non-surgical and surgical treatments designed to improve skin quality, restore facial volume, soften signs of aging, and create a refreshed, natural appearance.

As we age, collagen production decreases, skin becomes thinner and less elastic, facial volume changes, and wrinkles gradually become more visible. Sun exposure, genetics, lifestyle, and environmental factors can further influence these changes.

Depending on your anatomy, skin quality, degree of aging, and aesthetic goals, treatment may involve platelet-rich plasma (PRP), hyaluronic acid fillers, Botox® or Dysport®, laser and energy-based treatments, skin resurfacing, or facial surgery.

Facial Aging

Facial aging occurs at several levels. The skin gradually loses collagen and elasticity, facial fat compartments change in volume and position, and deeper supporting structures evolve over time. For this reason, no single treatment is appropriate for every patient.

A personalized facial rejuvenation plan may address:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Loss of skin elasticity

  • Uneven skin texture or tone

  • Sun damage and pigmentation

  • Loss of facial volume

  • Hollowing around the temples or under-eye area

  • Changes in cheek and facial contours

  • Expression lines

  • Skin laxity

  • Changes affecting the neck and décolleté

Depending on these concerns, one or several treatments may be recommended.

Treatment Options for Facial Rejuvenation

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP is a regenerative treatment prepared from a small sample of the patient's own blood. The blood is processed in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets containing naturally occurring growth factors involved in tissue repair and cellular signaling.

The concentrated PRP is then administered to selected areas of the skin, commonly through injections or in conjunction with another skin treatment.

PRP is primarily intended to improve skin quality rather than create significant facial volume. It may help support collagen production and improve skin texture, elasticity, and overall appearance over time.
Common treatment areas include the face, delicate under-eye region, forehead, temples, cheeks, perioral area, neck, and décolleté.

Because PRP is produced from the patient's own blood, allergic reactions to the injected material are uncommon.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Dermal fillers address a different component of facial aging: volume loss and contour.

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be strategically injected to restore volume, soften selected folds, and improve facial proportions. Common areas include the cheeks, temples, lips, chin, jawline, and selected facial folds.

Unlike PRP, which aims to support biological processes within the skin, fillers provide a more immediate structural or volumizing effect.

Botox® and Dysport®
Botulinum toxin treatments such as Botox® and Dysport® temporarily reduce the activity of selected facial muscles responsible for dynamic expression lines.

They are commonly used for forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows, and crow's feet around the eyes.
Botulinum toxin does not add facial volume. Instead, it softens wrinkles produced by repeated muscular movement while aiming to preserve natural facial expression.

Laser, IPL & Skin Resurfacing
Laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments can address concerns involving the surface and pigmentation of the skin.
Depending on the technology used, treatment may improve:

  • Sun damage

  • Pigmentation irregularities

  • Fine lines

  • Uneven skin texture

  • Redness or visible vessels

  • Overall skin quality

Chemical peels and other resurfacing procedures can also remove or exfoliate superficial layers of damaged skin, encouraging cellular renewal and improving texture.

Radiofrequency & Ultrasound
Energy-based technologies such as radiofrequency and ultrasound deliver controlled energy beneath the skin.
Depending on the device and treatment depth, these technologies may stimulate collagen remodeling and provide modest improvements in skin firmness and laxity without surgery.

Facial Surgery
Non-surgical treatments have limitations. When facial aging involves substantial skin laxity, displaced tissues, or significant changes to the lower face and neck, surgical rejuvenation may provide a more appropriate and longer-lasting correction.
Procedures such as a facelift, neck lift, eyelid surgery, or fat grafting may be considered individually or combined with non-surgical treatments.

PRP Facial Rejuvenation

PRP facial rejuvenation is a minimally invasive treatment that uses platelet-rich plasma prepared from the patient’s own blood to support collagen production, tissue repair, and overall skin quality.

The treatment involves four simple steps:

  1. Blood Collection — A small blood sample is taken.

  2. PRP Preparation — The blood is centrifuged to concentrate the platelet-rich plasma.

  3. Skin Preparation — The treatment areas are cleansed, and a topical or local anesthetic may be applied.

  4. PRP Treatment — The PRP is administered to targeted areas of the face to support gradual skin rejuvenation.

Treatment generally takes 30–60 minutes, and a series of sessions may be recommended depending on your skin and aesthetic goals.

Results, Recovery & Safety

PRP results develop gradually as collagen remodeling and tissue repair occur. Patients may notice improvements in skin texture, elasticity, and overall appearance, although individual results vary.

Downtime is generally minimal. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising may occur following treatment and usually improves quickly.

Because PRP is prepared from the patient's own blood, allergic reactions are uncommon. As with any injection treatment, there remains a small risk of bleeding, infection, or other complications.

PRP does not stop the natural aging process, and maintenance treatments may be recommended to help preserve results.
